When I got married it involved one bridesmaid, a three-course sit-down meal and a ceilidh.
My friend Ruth got married today with 23 bridesmaids, a fish and chip meal and a bouncy castle. She and her new husband, Mark, also managed to get interviewed by BBC Radio Derbyshire and as a result have appeared on the BBC news website. Here. Ruth is a truly amazing woman with a heart for children and a fabulous sense of humour. I wish them every blessing in their adventure together as husband and wife, and love the fact that on the day itself, the news story had become the ‘most read’ on the BBC hours after it broke.
