I just remembered that I was also amused yesterday when I noticed a lorry passing on the other side of the road with the letters SHUN TRITE across the grille. It took me a few moments to realise that this was the name of their company and it had more to do with shunting than shunning.
On the way back I saw another big vehicle carrying the words CAMP ARTS across the back doors. I had a vision of White Van Man at Glastonbury until it dawned on me that this was not the first time I had been fooled by a mere signwriter along the A14.
It reminds me of the furniture shop on a corner between Walton and Felixstowe in the eighties which had a sign in big letters for all to read as they waited at the traffic lights: WHEREQUALITY IS NEVER COMPROMISED (sic). It’s no longer there. Companies with silly names on vehicles, beware!
